A Little Bit of History
At seventeen I sailed on the Fairstar to the beautiful and unspoiled islands of Fiji with my boyfriend (now husband) Mark. We followed this with a trip in our Kombi to Townsville’s Army Barracks in far North Queensland where my brother was posted. Memorable experiences included nearly rolling the Kombi on the highway to being stuck for days in floods. At home on the Northern Beaches of Sydney, I owned my own hair salon.
We married, honeymooned at the amazing Jenolan Caves House at Katoomba NSW. We decided to settle in the seaside tourist town of Noosa to raise our three beautiful daughters . My goal of travelling to Europe was set on the back burner.
I joined meditation and writing groups and did writing courses. My self confidence grew, I explored my inner essence and expressed myself with words. My Mary River Poem won third prize at the Maryborough Festival. A Noosa Radio Broadcaster read my poem about Australia over the air on Australia Day. I attended book launches, supported new authors, and gained inspiration. Toast Masters boosted my confidence in public speaking when I was voted best speech.
I took the girls to Snowy Mount Hotham in Victoria. I was 41 and it was the most fun I’d had in years. Tobogganing down icy slopes right at our doorstep invoked the thrills of childhood.
I continued working hard and accompanied Mark to Shanghai on business. Being treated like VIP’s was an unexpected treat. I yearned to step on a cobblestone lane or plunge into the Aegean sea. It was Europe, drenched in the history I loved so much, that I wanted to see.
My husband didn’t share my travel dream. I found this challenging until one day I realised it was totally up to me. My journey took me to Italy, Switzerland, France, England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. This inspired me to learn to speak Italian.
I have been romanced on the Greek Islands of Mykonos, Paros and Santorini. We had wonderful adventures in Athens and Turkey. Our second honeymoon has given us amazing memories to share.
This year I am returning to England and Wales so get ready to read all about my adventures.
Take Flight…..of your life
I love my life and appreciate the fleeting encounters with strangers I meet along the way. I am grateful for my family and friends, every moment is a blessing.
I want you to know that it is possible, to manifest your dreams. You are the creator of your life. My hope is to inspire you with words. I want to encourage you to step through the boundaries of your comfort zone. I would like to see you soar to new heights and discover new horizons. Let me entice you to travel to destinations you never thought of visiting. Allow love to overtake fear.
Dance through life holding hands with your inner child. Radiate your shining light with laughter. Delight in the exploration of travel.
